Congratulations to our newest 3rd degree members

Marysville council 5534 had three members advance to 3rd degree as part of this ceremony:

  • Christopher Bartsch

  • Dino Sara

Congratulations to these men of our council.

Any 1st degree member interested in participating in the Knights of Columbus State of Ohio Council exemplification ceremony (each Tuesday and Friday, at least through the beginning of May) should contact either GK Larry Geraghty or FS Ken Yunker for information.

2019 Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity for Marysville Council 5534

As required by Knights of Columbus our local council has submitted the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity for the calendar year 2019.  The survey tabulates the charitable distributions as well as volunteer manhours.  Volunteer hours are taken from Individual Member Worksheets returned with dues payments.  Charitable distributions were significantly higher this past year due to commitment to the Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund and from profits of the OSU football ticket raffle (benefiting both Our Lady of Lourdes and our sister parishes in Columbus).

Respect Life Novena and Spiritual Adoption of the Unborn

Two programs are being coordinated for the parish families at Our Lady of Lourdes.

A Respect Life novena sponsored by Knights of Columbus, Marsyville Council 5534, will be held from Tuesday, January 14 through Wednesday, January 22, 2020, culminating with a Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes on Thursday, January 23 at 8 a.m. with the intention of Respect Life.

A novena is a period of sustain prayer of nine days for a particular intention.  Community members are encouraged to pray in their homes on each of the nine days of the novena.

The particular intention of the novena is Respect Life, and is scheduled at the time of the national March for Life (January 24, 2020).

The protection of life is a sustained prayer intention of the Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus .   A Respect Life novena is meant to bring Knights of Columbus and parish families together in a spiritual battle to lead their communities, through both public and private acts of prayer, to ensure culture of life in our nations.   All members of the community are welcome to join us

Daily email reminders will be sent to the council members.

If you are attending any of the Masses the weekend of January 11 and 12, please help us hand out prayer cards for the Novena.

Respect Life Novena Prayers

Another opportunity to actively pray for life:  women of the parish are working on building up a Respect Life Ministry with a first project to lead a Spiritual Adoption program, which kicks off the weekend of January 25 and 26, and is described below.

 Spiritual Adoption of the Unborn

It has been 47 years since the Supreme Court legalized abortion and declared children in the womb are not “persons.”  In this time, over 61 million babies have been killed and families scarred.

You are invited to “spiritually adopt” a baby in danger of abortion.  After all the Masses on January 25 and 26, stop by the vestibule and sign up to NAME and PRAY for your spiritually adopted baby. This is an opportunity to pledge a daily prayer for the next 9 months for your baby and his/her parents, that they may choose life.  Our prayer CAN make a difference!  At the end of 9 months in October, we will host a baby shower in the new Parish Life Center as a visible means of imitating the Magi and providing gifts that will be donated to pregnancy help centers.  Thank you for helping protect God’s precious children!

PSU/OSU ticket raffle winner

Congratulations to Todd Tracy, winner of the PSU/OSU ticket raffle, drawn on Thursday, November 7 prior to our business meeting.

Thanks to all who participated and special thanks to Mike Myers who helped coordinate this raffle (and top ticket seller).  Proceeds of $1312 each ($2624 total) were donated to the Our Lady of Lourdes’ building fund and St. Ladislas/Corpus Christi parishes in Columbus.
