Service Opportunity – Holy Family Church

Last fall, a group of Bridgettine sisters moved into a building adjacent to Holy Family to set up a convent.  With that, we need at least 10 brother knights to help out with three outdoor projects around this church just west of downtown Columbus, including:

  • reattaching a railing that needs reinforcing to the brick – this will require some epoxy, since the original holes are mostly blown out;
  • cutting down a wall that is relatively high and is blocking a window of the convent; and,
  • moving a green picket fence and gate from its current location of being next to a carport to a new location to surround their garden to keep groundhogs out – a good many of the posts could be cut off at ground level and mounted with brackets to the wooden frame bordering around the garden.

Please bring tools such as cordless drills and drivers.  Additionally, it would be ideal if someone can bring a reciprocating saw.

We will meet at the parking lot at Our Lady of Lourdes no later than 8 am on Saturday, July 20th, and will then carpool down to Holy Family.  We should be back by the same afternoon if we have enough help show up to complete these jobs.

If you are willing to help out, please contact Jim (elcherts @twc.com or 937–597–0579).  Please refer to Jim’s e-mail message that he sent out on Monday, July 1st, for more details.

Thank you and God bless!
